Kitchen on the Square
The restaurant fills the long front room on the ground floor, with cream banquettes, white tablecloths and pleated lamps, and a terrace in the courtyard. There is space for about thirty people at once. It serves breakfast to hotel guests every morning and dinner on most evenings, using what the orchards, the river and the markets of the area provide.
Breakfast is the meal we are proudest of: eggs the way you ask, bread from the bakery on the corner, fruit and cheese from the farms around Litomyšl and a plate of cold cuts that the cook cuts thin enough to read through.
The courtyard terrace
On warm days breakfast moves outside, to a handful of tables between lemon trees in terracotta pots. The tables are small, the cushions are soft and the sparrows are tolerated, since they have been there longer than the hotel.
Dinner is short on purpose: three starters, three mains and one dessert, changed with the season. Vegetarians are looked after, and the cook asks about allergies in advance and not at the table.
