Why the salon closes early
We think a guest who plays for one evening and goes up to bed has had a better night than a guest who stays until the doors shut. That is not a slogan; it is the reason for how the room is run. There are six tables and no more. The tables close at one. There is no credit and no cash machine in the hotel, and the bar stops half an hour before the play does.
A document at the door, each evening
Only adults of 18 and over come in. Czech rules make the door staff identify each visitor and look them up in the national exclusion register before they enter, so an identity card or passport is shown every evening, even by guests the staff served at breakfast.
What the staff will do, in person
Anyone in the room can ask the staff to hold to a limit, to say what time it is, to keep a seat for twenty minutes while you take a walk under the arcades, to refuse you entry for a few days, or to file a request for self-exclusion at the front desk. None of this is on the website, and that is on purpose: it happens face to face, with a person who will recognise you the following evening.
Five signs worth noticing
1
You think about the salon while standing on a ferry deck in Istanbul, and the ferry is the reason you came.
2
You change a walking day so that you are back in Litomyšl by six.
3
You count the evening in rounds instead of hours, and you no longer notice the ceiling.
4
You dip into the money you set aside for the next trip.
5
You return to the doors on an evening you told the desk you would stay away.
How the staff learn, and how to ask
Everyone who works on the first floor takes a course in recognising harm before their first shift and repeats it every year. You can ask any of them, or the night manager at the front desk, quietly and at any hour. They will not argue and will not make a scene.
Help outside the house
The free Czech quit line, Národní linka pro odvykání, takes calls about problem play on 800 350 000 on working days between 10:00 and 18:00. It was set up by the Office of the Government and is run by AdiPoint; see chciodvykat.cz. Number, hours and operator checked on 8 November 2026.
Self-exclusion in the Czech Republic goes through the register of excluded persons kept by the Ministry of Finance. You may apply on the ministry form described at mf.gov.cz, or ask any licensed operator to file it for you, which in this house means the front desk. Once entered at your own wish, the exclusion runs with no end date, and lifting it takes a written application after the protective period.
